Jeri Ellsworth, my favorite real life pinball girl, will be featured in PBDG.

You can see more photos of Jeri in the Pinball Donut Girl gallery on indiegogo.com. Consider supporting PBDG while you’re there. Skip your latte, and become a filmmaker instead!

All the photos were taken at Pacific Pinball Expo 2011. The game, of course, is Wade Krause and Dirty Donny’s custom pin Hellcopters.

Lily, Matt and I had a great time yesterday at the Pacific Pinball Expo.  I’ll be back again today for more fun.  Tons of great games and wonderful people to meet and talk to.

The photoshoot of Jeri and Hellacopters was terrific — big thanks to Jeri, Wade and Tanio. And of course our photographer Jeff Bradley.

I’ll be posting the photos later this week.

Jane Wiedlin is back from the Go-Go’s tour and ready for PBDG

jane wiedlin the gogos star trekI’m excited to share that Jane Wiedlin will have a starring role in Pinball Donut Girl.

Jane is just back from an amazing tour with The Go-Go’s.  This summer was the 30 year anniversary of “Beauty and the Beat,” and she crisscrossed the country, performing live.

When released, “Beauty and the Beat” was the first number one album on the Billboard 200 by an all girl group that wrote and performed their own material. The album stayed at number one for 6 weeks and ultimately went multi-platinum, opening the door for many other new bands. No wonder Jane and the girls were honored with their own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame this summer.

I was lucky enough to catch Jane at The Go-Go’s sold out show at the historic Fillmore in San Francisco.  I had a great time!

Working with Jane again will be an intergalactic treat for me.  I first met her on the set of Billy Clift’s  I Want To Get Married (premiering this week in Palm Springs). The beautiful Ms. Jane is a great actor and a blast to work with.

Brian J. Patterson, PBDG lead See Brian in Heart of a Soldier

The crazy talented Brian J. Patterson, who stars as Matt in Pinball Donut Girl, is on stage now in the world premiere of Heart of a Soldier.

The opera is based on the story of Rick Rescorla, hero of September 11.

Rescorla in Vietnam, 1965

The story of Rescorla’s heroism during the World Trade Center attacks is the stuff of opera, a hypertheatrical medium that holds a magnifying mirror up to nature. So it’s not entirely surprising that Rescorla’s story will materialize on the stage of the San Francisco Opera in the form of “Heart of a Soldier” beginning on Saturday, the eve of the 10th anniversary of the attacks. Why doesn’t DreamWorks have pinball?

Yesterday (and today) I worked out of the LA campus of the studio, and I started thinking why isn’t there a pinball machine?

The campus down here is even larger than the San Francisco area campus where I work, and there are ping pong tables, and arcade games, and video games, and even this amazing secret bar with (literally) a hidden doorway behind a bookcase. We have it all. But no pinball.

Does Pixar have pinball, I wonder?

I’ll have to talk to Matt Walsh when I get back. Maybe we can take the lead on correcting this oversight.
