Do you go to Gen Con Indy? Maybe you should.

I had a great time at Gen Con Film Festival in Indianapolis, IN. The con and its film festival see over 40k attendees during 4 days and take over the Indianapolis Convention Center and surrounding hotels.

I had the opportunity to screen Pinball Donut Girl  for this huge passionate community, and participate in panels with other indie filmmakers.

Producers’ panel on Indie Series, moderated by Anna. Left to right: Devi Snively (Martini Mom and Devil Spawn), Joe Atkinson (The Book of Dallas), Steve Gossett (Ninja Laundry), Tara Eary (Zombie Fairytale Theater), Chris Lukeman (Once Upon a Time in the 1970s), Anna Newman.

There was an arcade room and console games, but I didn’t see any pinball beyond my film. Maybe someone can get a couple games out there next year. I can try and hook people up with the organizers if anyone wants to look into that.

Huge exhibit floor, tons of films, and literally thousands of gaming events.  Lots of cosplay.

We also spent a late evening at the Indiana State Fair with PBDG ambassador to the Midwest, Mark Czarnowski (Chiefly Pinball).  Awesome!  My family attended the California State Fair every year when I was growing up. Made me miss my 4-H days.

Back at the con…

If you like table games, cosplay, models/miniatures, indie film, or just people watching, check out Gen Con. Fun and friendly people and well organized;  I would love to return.

Also check out the series available from the filmmakers on my panel.  You can enjoy many of them right now online (CLICK THE IMAGES).  I’ll be posting video of the panels themselves later.

PS: if you haven’t picked up a DVD of the Pinball Double Featurette, I just received the second run from the duplicator and I’m shipping again.  $10.99 for both short films plus a film on the design and creation of the visible pinball game and more.

Pittsburgh Pinball Donut Girl this weekend

anna-newman-pittsburgh-skylineThis weekend June 15-16 I’ll be in Pittsburgh for the screening of Pinball Donut Girl at the Pittsburgh Independent Film Festival. When I talked to Ron Quigley who runs the festival (and also created this cool dolly), he was surprised I would be able to come out. I explained that Pittsburgh was key to making Pinball Donut Girl happen, and also Wade Krause: Pinball Artist. I have to go!

pittsburgh-independent-ffPinball Donut Girl is playing on Saturday at 4:30 PM along with a lot of other cool films.  Get your tickets and come join the fun!

Pittsburgh is also the home of artist Brian Holderman (below with Wade).

Wade with Luther's Vendetta artist Brian HoldermanIn addition to epic murals, Brian did all the graphics for Wade Krause: Pinball Artist and he has designed the packaging and created original art for the PBDG/WK:PA DVD.

DVD-Pinball-Donut-GirlI bet you’ve caught on already — the first DVD press is going to be a double featurette.  So those of you who donated at that level will be getting both films! Yay!

If you can’t make Pittsburgh this weekend, Pinball Donut Girl will also be showing at Gen Con in Indianapolis, IN in August.  I heard a rumor Jeri Ellsworth might be attending….
